Jan 08] Math
Intervention Scripts. Here
are four new scripted math interventions
that teachers can use immediately!
Three target fluency with math facts,
and one is designed to boost comprehension
of advanced math graphics.
Math
Computation: Incremental Rehearsal.
Help students to learn their math
facts with this simple but novel
review technique that uses flashcards.
Math
Computation: Problem Interspersal.
Increase student motivation and
accuracy by intermixing easy with
challenging math computation problems.
Math
Computation: Self-Monitoring &
Performance Feedback. Have students
complete timed math worksheets,
chart their results, and earn incentives
for beating their previous score
of correct digits. This intervention
is efficient to carry out and builds
student motivation and fluency in
math facts.
Applied
Problems: QARs and Math Graphics.
Teach students trying to interpret
math graphics to use a reading comprehension
strategy. Math graphics such as
charts and graphs can be confusing
for students to analyze. Teaching
them to use Question-Answer Relationships
(QARs) can improve their performance
on applied math problems.
